Springfield History

Springfield was established as a town in 1832 when John Kelly built the first log cabin. At the time Springfield was a small community of just 3000 people. Today it is a bustling midsize town of 115,075.

Our most famous resident, Abraham Lincoln, came to live here in 1837, the same year Springfield became the state capital. Springfield is a historical town with several different places to explore.
